Manuel Antonio National Park is consistently ranked among the most beautiful national parks in the world. Covering 1,983 hectares of primary rainforest and protected marine zone on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast, it packs an extraordinary density of wildlife, vegetation and beach scenery into a relatively compact area.
The full-day tour departs from Jacó and travels approximately 1.5 hours south along the Pacific coastal highway. The journey passes the Tarcoles River bridge — one of the best spots in Costa Rica for spotting American crocodiles from above.
Inside the park, the guided nature experience begins on the main trail network. Manuel Antonio is home to four monkey species — white-faced capuchins, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys and spider monkeys — all regularly spotted at close range. Three-toed sloths, coatis, iguanas, poison dart frogs, toucans and scarlet macaws complete the wildlife list.
The rainforest trails open onto white sand beaches with calm, clear water sheltered by headlands. Beach time is included in the experience.
Park entry at Manuel Antonio is limited to a fixed number of visitors per day — advance reservation is essential, especially December to April and on weekends.
